Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the 2nd annual Fredericksburg Cat Tour and Coffee in the Canal Quarter

1. What is the Fredericksburg Cat Tour and Coffee in the Canal Quarter?

   The Fredericksburg Cat Tour is a fun cat-focused event that takes participants on a guided trolley tour through the historic Canal Quarter neighborhood, where you’ll meet local cats, learn about the area’s history, and enjoy the beauty of the community. It is created by the FXBG Advance, a nonprofit newsroom covering local government neighborhoods and schools with deep, analytical reporting. 


2. When and where does the event take place?

   The tour will be held on Saturday October 11, 2025 Starting at 10:00 am. 


3. Is this event suitable for all ages?

   Yes! The Cats and Coffee Tour is a family-friendly event open to participants of all ages.


4. Do I need to register in advance?

  Tickets go on sale September 5, 2025. Tickets are available online here or in person. 


5. How long is the tour?

   The Tour is estimated to be about an hour long with stops at each of the homes with cats, as well as a stop at Canal Quarter Arts for Cat art, coffee, and adoptable kittens. The Old Mill Park stop will have cupcakes from Cool Cat Cupcakes, coffee, a cat photo location, and other cat merchandise from a variety of vendors. 6. Can I bring my own pet?

   Yes, you can bring your own cat in a carrier, stroller, or bubble, or on a leash.  PLEASE NO DOGS. Please note the Old Mill park location allows dogs in the park. 


7. What should I wear or bring?

   Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. You may also want to bring water, a camera, and a curious attitude! Outfits with Cats on them are encouraged and appreciated. We are out here having fun.


8. Will there be stops for refreshments?

  

The tour begins at Old Mill park where Cool Cat Cupcakes will have cupcakes available. There will be coffee there and at the Canal Quarter Arts stop.. 


9. How many cats will we meet on the tour?

   The tour features 10+ amazing cats, but you may encounter more feral cats as we explore the neighborhood! There is a managed cat colony on Charles Street. Be on the lookout and count how many black  and white tuxedo cats you can count. They are all a part of the feral cat colony. If you live in the Canal Quarter neighborhood and would like to have your cat added to the tour, contact [email protected].



10. Is there a cost to attend the tour?

    Tickets for the tour are $10. We welcome additional donations to the cat rescues and/or the nonprofit newsroom. 


11. **Is the tour wheelchair accessible?**

    Yes, the trolley is wheelchair accessible 


12. Who is sponsoring and hosting the event?

    The event is hosted by FXBG Advance and sponsored by Fredericksburg Animal Hospital and Cool Cat Cupcakes.


13. Will there be any historical information provided during the tour?

    Yes! In addition to meeting the local cats, participants will learn about the rich history of the Canal Quarter and its significance in the area.


14. Can I take pictures of the cats and the neighborhood?

    Absolutely! Feel free to capture photos of the cats and the beautiful surroundings, but please be respectful of the animals and any private property. We are viewing the cats from a respectful distance. Please understand that the cats may or may not be comfortable appearing. If they change their minds, feel free to take pictures of their yard signs featuring their handsome photos and key facts. We want no uncomfortable or stressed out cats!
