What is Picnic in the Park?, and why you should check it out

Picnic in the Park, one of the city’s most beloved and long-running summer traditions. This free weekly event brings together live music, local food vendors, kids' activities, and a laid-back community vibe — all set in the beautiful surroundings of Memorial Park in downtown Fredericksburg.
Where is Picnic in the park
This Community event is located at 1401 Memorial Park, Fredericksburg Va.
This shaded, historic park provides the perfect picnic atmosphere with grassy areas, mature trees, and easy access to downtown businesses and parking.
When Does Picnic in the Park Happen
Picnic in the park happens every Tuesday in May and June from 11:30 to 1:30
Perfect for a mid-day lunch break, a mommy-and-me meet-up, or a fun field trip for summer camps or homeschoolers.
What Should I expect?
people: Pretty much the whole community comes out and its awesome, but can get pretty busy.
live music: Every week there is a diffrent local band that comes out and plays music. It's always diffrent, jazz, blues, rock . the music fits the theme of the week.
Food Trucks, and Vendors:
it's typical to see one or 2 local Food Trucks offering everything from tacos to ice cream
Childrens Activities:
almost every tent has a craft for children, or adults ( anyone who wants to participate) including crafts, face painting, bubble stations, and sometimes even visits from local mascots or first responders
The VIBES:
The Vibes are awesome and causual. Its so cool when the whole community comes together for a fun summer day.
What should you Bring?
a Chair or Blanket there are only a few picnic tables so a picnic blanket, or a chair will come in so handy.
sunscreen or a hat: It gets Very hot, and you will most likley be in the sun for hours so bring sunscreen or some from of protection.
lunch or snacks while yes there are food trucks you are still able to bring your own lunch or snacks
water bottles: Again it gets hot so always have water. there are water fountians at the park
kids toys: Bring things your kid likes just to make it even more fun.
Where should you park?
there is parking on the streets close to the park, and there are some parking lots, but these events do get pretty crowded, so you might have to park and walk . ( I usally park in the church parking lot ) right across from the park.
Can you bring Pets?
YES, pets are welcome ( on leash) you know your pet so keep in mind that there will be other animals do what is best for you and your pet PSA bring your pets to the Fredericksburg Parent and Family Tent so I can Love on them.
PRO TIPS:
arrive early: but not too early as vendors will still be setting up. ( I would say arive around 11:20) but leave time to park
