Local Virtual & Indoor Fun

Wildlife Center of VA

The Wildlife Center is offering live virtual tours and new online programs about wildlife and the Center’s work.  Check out their Critter Cams, Facebook Live Sessions, games such as Backyard Bingo, and Wildlife Academy Classes and more.

Virtual Garden Visit with Peter Rabbit

Although the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is closed, Peter Rabbit will still make an appearance on Saturday, April 11 on Facebook Live at 11 a.m. You're invited to go along (virtually) as he explores the beautiful springtime garden HERE!  


Friends of the Rappahannock

Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) has resources that are useful if you're home with a student or if you are feeling inspired to get outside and transform your yard into a river friendly yard.  FOR will be sharing more outdoor education and how-to videos in the coming weeks.  Check them out on FACEBOOK or their WEBSITE.

B101.5 want you to show them your coloring skills! Download any of the coloring sheets and get coloring! Email a pic of YOU holding your artwork to [email protected], and they will post your pic to their Facebook & Instagram page!

Olde Towne Butcher

In good times and bad, your local farms don't run out of food. Please support them now and all year long!  Check out the variety of meat options and more that the Olde Towne Butcher has in downtown FXBG.  They offer walk in, curbside or delivery.  


Walnut Hill Farm at Elm Springs, LLC

Looking for meat fresh from a local farm?  Check out Walnut Hill Farm in Fredericksburg.  They are currently working on delivery options but you can visit them at several area Farmer's Markets or visit the farm itself!   A farm visit will result in fresh air, farm animals, and on the right days sunshine.  A farm is great for building natural immunity!

Charlie's Crab House - Opening Weekend!

Tis the season for crabs!  It's opening weekend for locally owned Charlie's Crab House!  Call 540-371-9988 to place your orders.  When you arrive, please stay INSIDE of your vehicle. Please pull up to the front deck. Someone will come out to you.

Operation YMCA Crew

This is a virtual race that's a fundraiser to help Operation YMCA C.R.E.W.!  The Rappahannock Area YMCA is honored to provide special childcare services for children of hospital staff, doctors, nurses, and all essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We need your help! Please join us in this fundraising virtual race so we can continue to provide these services for those in need. Our goal is to be able to offer this program at NO COST to essential workers.

Thanks to the generosity of Papa John's, each participants will receive a coupon for a FREE small pizza! Bonus - you'll also receive a one day pass to the Y's water park!

When:  April 10 - 18

Cost:  $10/ 1 Mile or $20/ 5 K

Sheetz Offering FREE Meal Program

Sheetz announced a new Kidz Meal Bagz program providing free food to help children and families in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meal Bagz will be available all day and will include a turkey sandwich, chips and a drink.

Families interested in taking advantage of the free Kidz Meal Bagz program should go to participating Sheetz locations and ask an employee at the register for a meal. Families will be offered one bag per child. Meals will be available daily while supplies last.

Legal or financial questions? Virginia Legal Aid just might be able to help!  They have great info for all your legal questions re: employment, housing, elder law and more!  You never know what you might qualify for! Individuals, small businesses and families can find more info about their rights/benefits HERE.
