Are eating healthier, eating locally grown or transitioning to gluten or GMO-free listed among your New Year’s resolutions? Then you should stop by Kickshaws Downtown Market. This downtown grocer strives to “... not only provide good healthy food and living options for the community, but help people continue to learn about their bodies and their amazing ability to heal and grow through good health.”
Kickshaws owner, Kathy Craddock, and the rest of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable about their products and passionate about how food directly relates to your family’s health! Have a question about gluten, faro, nightshades, or the benefits of fermented foods? Just ask. Better yet, sign up for one of their classes or workshops that cover a wide variety of topics like canning, bone-broth and kombucha making, and meal planning.
Kickshaws Downtown Market primarily carries produce and meats from local, independent farms. Purchasing those products not only supports this family-owned business, but the farm that those items originated from, and the downtown Fredericksburg economy. Added bonus? By keeping it local, you’re reducing your carbon footprint.
Kickshaws recently started The Fresh Produce Club. Similar to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), it’s a monthly subscription where you receive a weekly mixed bag (your choice of small, medium or large) of locally sourced and certified organic produce. There’s even an option for all organic produce.
Be sure to try some homebrewed kombucha, place a custom cake order in their newly opened bakery, or grab a freshly prepared sandwich when you visit!
