Situated in Caroline County, Snead’s Asparagus Farm has a reputation across the region for its spring asparagus, fall pumpkins and Christmas trees. If you’re looking to take the kids outdoors to burn some energy this October, Sneads Asparagus Farm, 11 miles outside of Fredericksburg, is the place.
Sneads is classified as a sustainable farm, which means a reduced carbon footprint, and less water, chemical and fuel use. Sustainable faming benefits the farmer, the community and the environment.
Sneads Asparagus Farm is a CSA, which stands for community-supported agriculture. This farming model allows people within the community to buy “shares” of a farm’s harvest in advance. This means families and individuals who join as members always have access to the freshest foods and produce the farm offers. Sneads offer two share sizes and multiple pickup options starting with its signature asparagus in the springs and ending with its delicious peaches!
Right now, you can take your kids to Snead’s Asparagus Farm for its annual 2020 Heirloom Pumpkin Picking. The farm will be open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and admission is $9 per person on weekdays and $12 per person on weekends (ages 2 and under are free). Leashed pets are welcome. Snead’s is also practing COVID-19 safety protocol. This information can be found on its website along with a map of attractions.
