A great escape awaits right in your own backyard. And if you’re weary from the monotony of COVID-19 home life, now’s the time to sneak out with your spouse or significant other for a night or two at any of the area’s bed & breakfasts—each boasting something different to offer.

Kenmore Inn is a historical treasure offering a tranquil bricked patio and a breezy front porch, perfect for unwinding. As Fredericksburg’s longest-operating inn with nine unique guest rooms, the Inn is within walking distance to the town’s best shopping, dining and exploring.

1890 Caroline House provides a blend of history, elegance and modern-day luxury. The romantic, Victorian-esque home sits in Historic Fredericksburg, offering quick access to Olde Towne and local historic battlefields. All of the beautiful guest rooms include a jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation, and guests enjoy lounging in the parlor after a day of exploring.

Stevenson's Ridge is a breath-taking 87-acre historical property offering lodging in restored antique structures. Get ample privacy in your own private cottage from the 18th and 19th centuries. You can tour Civil War trenches on the grounds, fish in the on-site pond, or stroll through one of the wooded paths. Complimentary concierge service is available to arrange transportation, dinner and tour reservations.

If You Need a Change of Scenery…

While a night in town is convenient, if you’ve been parked at home for too long, you may want to venture out at some of these retreat lodgings within an hour of town.

North of Fredericksburg in the town of Warrenton is Black Horse Inn. A historic and storied place, the Inn boasts 10 rooms, all with private bathrooms, and many feature four-poster canopy beds, jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces. In the heart of Virginia’s horse country, the Inn accommodates horses in their stables for overnight visits. Couples can enjoy relaxing in the boxwood garden, library, or on one of the comfortable porches. Wildlife abounds on the Inn’s grounds and animals like white-tailed deer and red foxes can be spotted in the fields.

West of Fredericksburg is Walden Hall, located in the town of Reva. A premium luxury bed and breakfast, Walden Hall is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville and Culpeper. Boasting five luxury guest suites, each with en suite bathrooms, Walden Hall offers an intimate and inviting atmosphere perfect for romantic getaways. The home sits on 10 acres of rolling farmland, and the inn inspires its guests to reconnect with nature, relax and enjoy luxurious accommodations.

A short drive east, Belle Grove Plantation in King George transports you back to the days of southern elegance and charm. As the birthplace of President James Madison, the historic mansion has four master suites with private baths and views of the river and plantation. Historic and local attractions are an easy drive away and Virginia wine country is just around the corner.

Just south of Fredericksburg is Magnolia Morning Estates, nestled in the quaint town of Bowling Green. The estates are made up of private cottages where visitors can retreat and enjoy their own private space. Amenities include king or queen size beds, large bathrooms, and each have their own living room, screened in porch, dining area and more. Minutes away from Fort A.P. Hill and historic Fredericksburg, there’s lots to explore for history buffs and lovers of antiquing, shopping and casual or fine dining.

Whether you enjoy luxury or rustic charm, there’s a bed and breakfast to suit your need and to give you that much deserved getaway. Many have reopened and are following government recommended safety measures to keep their guests as safe as possible.
