Cool Things to Do: April 22

May 04, 2020 04:13PM ● By Leigha Pecher

Greetings from the FredParent family!

I hope you all are doing well and hanging in there!  If boredom has hit your family, we are here to help with fun links to virtual field trips, fun educational sites and ways to keep those kids (and YOU and ME!) moving!  Our Saturday edition will continue to focus on local businesses who need our support. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!  Stay healthy and safe! ~Leigha, Fred Parent's Calendar Mom

Virtual Field Trips

The Sea More Sea Life Syndey Aquarium

Visit the land down under-from your own home!  Find a range of resources for you and your family to use while staying home. Join us for live streams of our keepers, aquarists and our star sea creatures. Get exclusive activity sheets, craft activities and downloadables!

Whether you're looking for things to do with your family or a unique craft activity, you'll love a trip to the virtual aquarium.

Jamestown/Yorktown

Join us for a tour behind the scenes on the DISCOVERY - a re-creation of the smallest of the ships that came to Jamestown in 1607.   Come see where American history began, in the heart of Virginia's Historic Triangle and you can  visit the museum gift shops too!

Ellis Island

National Parks Tour

The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks is an exhibit that allows you to take 360-degree tours of some of the most remote and beautiful U.S. National Parks. Instead of featuring much-documented vistas like Yosemite or the Grand Canyon, for example, the exhibit instead focuses on a selection of parks you may not have traveled to yet (or may never see), including the Kenai Fjords in Alaska, Hawaiian volcanoes, New Mexico’s Carlsbad Caverns, Utah’s Bryce Canyon, and Florida’s Dry Tortugas.

In the video experience, a local ranger will guide you through each park, allowing you to do things like fly over the active volcanoes in Hawaii, snorkel the coral reefs in the Dry Tortugas, or kayak through Alaska’s fjords, among other things.

The virtual tours are available both online, in the Google Arts & Culture App on iOS and Android.
