Greetings from the FredParent family!

I hope you all are doing well and hanging in there!  If boredom has hit your family, we are here to help with fun links to virtual field trips, fun educational sites and ways to keep those kids (and YOU and ME!) moving!  Our Saturday edition will continue to focus on local businesses who need our support. Virtual Field Trips

The Maritime Aquarium

Students, families and individuals are welcome to take part in these live-streaming virtual programs.   All programs require advance reservations to receive the needed link.

The Nature Lab

The Nature Conservancy offers 11 virtual field trips that allow students to do everything from exploring a coastal rainforest while in a canoe to unlocking the secrets of coral reefs in the Dominican Republic.

Colonial Williamsburg

THIS living history museum provides a look into life in an early American community. The website offers eight different webcams, featuring areas such as the tavern, the armory, and the market house.


360 Cities

Boasting the world’s largest collection of 360° images videos, 360 Cities provides kids with the opportunity to see stunning panoramas across the globe. Their video of black ants walking on the dirt is pretty amazing.

Keeping Active

Livestream Kids Yoga with House of Yoga

Looking to fill a little time with the kids at home? Kids yoga is a perfect choice. Join us Wednesdays from 12:30-1:00 pm with Lindsey!

Cost:  $10 a month with unlimited access to all the replays of our daily classes.

Virtual Healthy Kids Day via Ron Rosner YMCA

Check out the full day of activities scheduled for this VIRTUAL Healthy Kids Day right HERE!  From Zumba for kids on Zoom to crafts, youth agility training and more, there is definitely something for everyone!

Education Station

San Diego Zoo Academy

For the next eight weeks, middle and high school teachers and students can gain access to 22 free, self-paced online courses through the San Diego Zoo covering a variety of taxonomic groups and individual animal species.

The interactive courses are designed to be completed by students in as little as one to two hours. They include video, images and quizzes to teach students about mammals, birds, reptiles, monotremes and more.  For ages 13+ only.

Art Connected Contest

Calling all artists & writers!  Time to celebrate the 10th Annual Spring/Summer Art/Essay Contest.  This gives everyone an opportunity to participate in an annual contest that rewards EVERY entrant with awards. Every artist receives a t-shirt of their masterpiece - every essayist receives a framed copy of their blessed entry. Everyone receives a Certificate of Appreciation.This year we're opening the contest to Adults. - Cash Awards in each age category - early entrants receive an additional FREE gift.

Canada's Wonderland

Virtual rides on 16 coasters, 11 thrill rides and seven family rides have been captured for years on the park's YouTube channel from a point-of-view perspective.


Parks, Trails and Suggested Walks

The Canal Path/Heritage Trail has been very busy these last few weeks.  There is a NEW interactive map to help you find nearby hiking and walking trails (some are paved, some are not) located all over Fredericksburg City. This will help you continue to be outside, while helping us all stay a safe distance from each other.
