Happy Weekend FXBG families!  I hope this newsletter finds you all happy and healthy!  Staying home does not have to equal being bored!  Check out some cool ideas to help you and your families have fun this weekend, with a focus on everything local and/or VA!  Stay healthy and safe!

Yes, they are both open for exploring outside (with strict CDC guidelines in place) but you can also explore them online too!  Check out their virtual classroom and activities HERE.


National Aquarium 

The aquarium will be streaming several of its exhibits, including Blacktip Reef and Pacific Coral Reef, live on its WEBSITE


Montpelier

Montpelier is closed to the public at this time, but there are many other ways you can visit.  We Welcome You to Experience Montpelier Virtually!  We have publicly accessible blog posts, websites, podcasts, online courses, and social media platforms for you to enjoy. We encourage parents, students, and teachers to use and share this information as Montpelier continues to be a place of education, inspiration, and American history.

Smithsonian's  National Zoo - D.C.

The D.C. zoo has many resources to engage learners in grades pre-K to 12 with science, the natural world, wildlife and conservation. to include animal web cameras, wildlife career videos, zoo tour, bird migration game and much more!  Go HERE.

Bluebird Glass Studio

Bluebird Stained Glass wants to keep the the arts going, while being safe. Therefore, we are offering two different types of art projects. A mosaic project and a fused glass (fun fusing) project that we lovingly call "cookies". These will be offered "to go".

Malawi's Pizza food truck has been taking care of feeding our first responders @ The Spotsy Sheriff's Office!  Eat some great food and have fun with their Take Make & Bake Pizza Kits!  Or place an order for their Ready to Bake Family Sized Pasta!  Please Call Ahead 540-479-3152 to order.

Empowerhouse

Empowerhouse will continue to provide support for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Our 24-hour Hotline remains open for services and information, and advocates are available to speak with callers.   As recommended by the CDC, National and State partner guidelines, we are operating under a modified response protocol.  Please call our Hotline 540-373-9373 for assistance and further information.

Stafford County Drop Off Donations of PPE

Stafford County officials have established a centralized location to gather donated personal protection items needed by first responders and medical personnel during the coronavirus pandemic.

Items being accepted for donation include unused surgical, N95 or N100 face masks; hand-sewn masks, made in accordance to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards; nitrile gloves; fabric, elastic and thread; unused plastic sheeting; duct tape; surgical gowns; paper towels; hand sanitizer and surface disinfectants.

Where:  Stafford Fire Training and Logistics Center, 1326 Courthouse Rd, Stafford.  Potential donors may call(540) 658-5304 in advance of a drop-off. Donors are asked to honk their horns at the entrance to the building, and volunteers will come out and take donations.   As well, prospective donors can email the warehouse at [email protected].
