Family Financial Planning

Jan 22, 2018 06:13PM ● By Nikki Ducas

It’s a new year and time for setting goals. Typically, we decide to lose a few pounds or to hit the gym. This year, why not set financial goals for yourself and your family and meet with a financial advisor?

Josette Smith of Rappahannock Wealth Advisors recommends that you do the following items soon this year:

Take some time to review your spending and savings habits.

Are you paying down your credit cards effectively?

Can you set aside an extra $50 a month into your child’s education savings account or an emergency fund?

Look further down the road to set money aside for a major house repair and even retirement.

Families with children know that expenses only continue to grow as they do: travel sports, orthodontics, and insurance for new drivers all take a toll on the family budget.

Is your money working as hard for you as you need it to?

Consulting with a financial advisor is a good first step to answering that question. Looking closely at your financial picture and making informed decisions on your family’s finances can reduce your money anxiety. Good financial advisors will review your income, debt, and assets and how long they need to last. They will review your investment portfolio to make sure it is appropriate for current market conditions. A good financial advisor will also understand the tax implications relating to your investments and borrowing, and can be an excellent source of guidance as your family’s needs change.

At Rappahannock Wealth Advisors, we take care of every aspect of your money from investments to financial planning to taxes. Come sit with us at our office on Princess Anne Street for a 30-minute complimentary financial review. This year, invest in yourself and your family with a financial plan for your future!
