Pickin’ the Patch at Belvedere Plantation

Sep 26, 2017 04:57PM ● By Fredericksburg Parent Staff

There’s nothing better than a pumpkin patch in October! If you’re looking to kick it up a notch this year, you should visit Belvedere Plantation’s Harvest Festival, which runs from September 30th–October 31st! Enjoy a hayride, corn maze, acres of games, play areas, autumnal food, animals to pet and plenty of pumpkins. There’s even a fireworks show! It’s no surprise that they snagged the “Favorite Seasonal Activity” spot in our 2017 Family Favorites contest!

Here are a few things you won’t want to miss!

The apple-cinnamon doughnuts are GOOD. Get the apple-cinnamon doughnuts.

Watch the pig races! It’s adorable, squeal-ly and gives you a chance to sit down.

Be sure to get a fancy pumpkin or two. The decorative ones (think: white, bumpy, blue, etc.) are near the plantation market.

Take your picture in front of the humongous scarecrow!

Roast some marshmallows around the campfire.

If you have a young child, head for the Little Farmer’s Corral. It’s a play area with small John Deere trikes, a mini corn maze, giant sand boxes filled with digging toys and horse swings.

As far as pumpkin picking itself goes, if you’re feeling particularly bold, go for the “as many pumpkins as you can carry” option. You can potentially walk away with many jack-o’-lantern-size pumpkins, and your kids will get a kick out of your valiant attempt!
