We are just a few days away from Halloween, guys! As the spooky season draws to a close, let's look back at all the reasons why it's so great to spend Halloween in Fredericksburg!

Downtown Trick-Or-Treating - Last weekend, hundreds of costumed little ones flocked to Downtown stores for some good old fashioned Trick-Or-Treating! Pouches was there "witching" everyone a Happy Halloween and handing out allergy-friendly treats. This is always such a fun, family friendly event for our community. What a great way to get to know our local store owners!

Local pumpkin patches - We are so lucky to have multiple pumpkin patches in and around Fredericksburg! From Belvedere Plantation, to Snead's Asparagus Farm, to Braehead Farm right here in the city limits, festive hayrides and rows of heritage gourds are only a short drive away! Nothing says "October" like hot apple cider and a crisp breeze blowing through a pumpkin patch.

Ghosts!- As we mentioned earlier this month, Fredericksburg is chock full of ghosts! Halloween is the perfect time of year to take a professionally guided ghost tour. Fun at the library -  The Central Rappahannock Regional Library always does such a great job offering fun, free, seasonal events for kids of all ages. This year, they launched their first annual costume swap, read dozens of spooky stores, sang lots of spooky songs, and even had a fun pumpkin event!  This week, is the Alphabet Soup Special: Halloween Hoopla! There will be stories, songs, and a costume parade.  Ages 2-5 with a caregiver. Drop in. Check out their website for more details.

Trunk- Or-Treating - Have you ever been Trunk-Or-Treating? It's a fun alternative to traditional Trick-Or-Treating. People decorate their cars and come together to Trick-Or-Treat from their trunks! Many local churches have Trunk-Or-Treating events that also include food, face painting, bounce houses, and more ! If you'd like to take part in one, check out St. Matthias UMC, Salem Fields Community Church, Stafford County Christian Church, and St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Great Pumpkin Derby -  Last week, people from all over the area grabbed their pumpkin racers and headed to Curtis Park to race their pumpkins downhill. There were prizes given for the best decorated pumpkin, and of course, the fastest racer! What a cool event!

UMW Pumpkin Palooza - Every year, The Center for Honor, Leadership, and Service hosts the annual UMW community event, Pumpkin Palooza! It's a day in October devoted to providing area children with a safe place to Trick-Or-Treat in groups on campus, as well as give back to their local community through service projects. 4th Annual Fredericksburg Zombie Walk. -  If you've never taken part in The Annual Fredericskburg Zombie Walk, you MUST this year! In a nutshell, a huge group of people will dress up like zombies, meet at Hurkcamp Park, and then lurch, shuffle, and moan their way through Downtown Fredericksburg. The Annual Fredericksburg Zombie Walk benefits local charities. Please bring nonperishable food items, a household cleaning product or a monetary donation. Seasonal treats from our favorite restaurants and coffee shops. This time of year, local menus are sprinkled with homemade pumpkin spice lattes, rich hot chocolates, savory soups made with locally sourced ingredients, and artisanal breads loaded in seasonal goodness... what's not to get excited about?!

10) Peeking at all the creative window displays, in Downtown shops! Okay, okay... so you could technically say this about Downtown all year round. That doesn't make it any less true, though! We love walking around The 'Burg and checking out all the spooky vignettes! Which is your favorite?
