Fredericksburg Christian Youth Theater – More than Talent

While some talented kids reach their full potential, sadly many others lose interest and never have the opportunity to discover the full extent of their ability.  More than the talents our children possess, it’s the choices that we as parents make with them that sets them on the path to greatness, both as individuals and as professionals.   For this reason, finding the right theater program for my children was a critical decision I ended up making with great confidence once our family found Fredericksburg Christian Youth Theater.

CYT places the maximum worth on people and the treatment of each individual with respect and significance.  Character traits such as commitment, discipline, confidence, honesty, generosity, leadership, integrity and humility are encouraged and rewarded.  Judeo-Christian values guide the quest for excellence in both character and performance. When deciding where my children will be spending their time away from home I always ask, “Will my child be a better person as a result of being in this environment and spending time with these people?”  A definite “Yes!” was the answer with CYT.

By working with the talented, accomplished and nurturing CYT teachers and directors, each child can embrace their talents with the humility that sees accurately, and doesn’t leave them thinking they’re any better or worse than they really are.  Tools are provided to develop proficiency in areas of weaknesses while helping strengths shine brighter. 

CYT invites children ages 6 to 18 to participate in weekly classes in acting, musical theater, dance and other related courses. Each child enrolled in class is welcome to audition for a Broadway-style, fully staged musical production presented after the ten week session.  In selecting each year’s shows and summer camps, CYT carefully selects material that embodies positive Christian values and principles.  The 2008-2009 season begins with “Willy Wonka” in November, followed by “Seussical the Musical” in February, and ends with “The Little Mermaid” in May.

 The CYT theater experience deeply impacts the whole child, along with the family and community that surrounds the child. I find great joy in knowing that Fredericksburg CYT is about so much more than talent, and that it is available right here!
